Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel

Written by

Kentucky Spirit has the same bottling proof of Wild Turkey 101. The different would seem to be barrel selection and age. Wild Turkey 101 is a bottling of barrels blended together with ages of 6, 7 and 8 years old. Kentucky Spirit is a little older at 8-9.5 years old. And that barrel selection should be good as Master Distiller Jimmy Russell picks them out himself.

The Liquor Depot Single Barrel Selection comes from Barrel #747 Stored in Warehouse N on Rick #3, it was bottled on 6-1-2015 at 101 proof.

The Initial nose of this Single Barrel is heavy Bourbon Spice, followed by hints toffee, butterscotch and cinnamon. The first sip reveals smooth spicy notes, followed by dark fruit and brown sugar with a strong backdrop of wood.  Hard to get more balanced with sweet and savory sitting in near perfect alignment and bolstered by a full body and smooth inviting texture.

Our selection finishes with wood, brown sugar, corn, dark fruit, honey, caramel and mint all lingering together on a nice long slow fade.

Special National Bourbon Heritage Month Price: $44.99/750 ml.

Eagle Rare 10-Year-Old Whiskey

Written by

While some in the Whiskey community are warning of the impending aged bourbon shortage, Liquor Depot is doing all it can to ramp up our Single Barrel offerings of great, aged bourbons. We have just received our latest barrel of Eagle Rare 10-year-old. This particular Single Barrel has less of the usual caramel and vanilla, though these are also still there. This barrel of Eagle Rare has more texture than the last barrel, with lots of oak and tannins. The texture is expressed in notes of chocolate, caramel, fruit, and hints of grass and sap. The finish is dry and warming, and rather long. Easily one of our most favorite Eagle Rare Barrels we've ever experienced!

In our continued efforts to bring our customers the best selection of quality aged bourbons we have recently tasted and ordered Single Barrels of 1792 Ridgemont Reserve, our second Single Barrel of Four Roses. We have also blended our own unique Angel's Envy. These Single Barrels should arrive sometime in Late September or early October.

Masterson's 10-year-old Rye

Written by

This 100% rye whiskey is sourced from the same distillery as WhistlePig and Jefferson’s (The one you purchase might depend on which one you can find, as they are all quite limited.) This one sells at a premium to the other two, but shows polish and is nicely rounded. Floral aroma, with hints of spicy wood and cinnamon. Notes of roasted nuts, citrus and vanilla, which are complemented by a bold and spicy undertone. Finish is long and robust, with notes of oak and baking spices mingled with sweet undertones of honey, marshmallow and caramel. This makes a nice sipping rye and is thoroughly enjoyable. Very distinctive!

Russell's Reserve Single Barrel

Written by

One of our Best Single Barrel Selection yet! The initial nose is full of alcohol, but quickly mellows to display all of those classic bourbon notes, i.e. dark brown sugar, vanilla, caramelized bananas, allspice, cinnamon, and a just a bit of menthol.

Our Selection is very spicy at the onset with a huge hit of cinnamon that concentrates on the tip of your tongue. Once the heat subsides, the dark brown sugar and vanilla notes emerge at mid-palate. It all comes together at the finish with those baking spices and herbal notes showing up, as well. Long, warming finish with a lingering cinnamon and sweet mint aftertaste. This whiskey reacts well to a drop of water or ice, but is just as enjoyable neat.

Weller Antique 107 Proof

Written by

A Wheated bourbon with a full-bodied flavor and a balanced palette. The Old Weller 107 (OW107) is a purchase you can feel confident in if you're looking for an everyday sipper. Obviously it is 107 proof, aged for around 7 years, though it comes with no age statement.

Our single barrel offering is very well balanced with sweet fruit notes, strong vanilla currents, and sharp, spicy tones with a cinnamon finish. The profile is similar to the Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year, which is made at the same distillery, the only difference being the age. It is the same mashbill, aged in the same location, and is cut to the same proof.

Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon

Written by

The finest bourbon in the world comes from a single barrel. That’s the way Colonel Albert B. Blanton first bottled his private reserve bourbon nearly a century ago. Blanton believed the “center-cut”, or middle sections of Warehouse H were the best for aging his bourbon - personally tasting and choosing each barrel himself. These barrels were reserved and bottled for ambassadors, dignitaries, family, and friends, becoming the world’s first single barrel bourbon.

His time honored tradition lives on today as only a handful of barrels from the center of Warehouse H are selected to become Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon.

The Liquor Depot Barrel Selection is very deep and satisfying. The taste has a masterful start with deep dry vanilla notes in perfect harmony with hints of honey amid the strong caramel. The long, creamy caramel lingers until some late soft peppers arrive to spice things up. The complexity and harmony of spice and honey really makes for a  bourbon that suits all tastes and one to keep the discerning whiskey drinker almost purring with delight. Blanton's Bourbon is availible in .375 ml and .750 ml bottles.

The tiny horse and jockey on the bottle stoppers are collector's items, too! Read more about them on the Blanton's Bourbon website.

Angels Envy (30A/20B/50C) Barrel

Written by

This bottling is not a specific single barrel offering, instead it is a unique blend created by the Tasting Panel at Liquor Depot and Angel's Envy. 3 distinct samples of Angels Envy were presented, One sample was the traditional Angels Envy selection, the 2nd had seen longer time with the secondary aging in Port Barrels and the 3rd had seen less than usual time in the secondary aging Port Barrels. The 3 samples were tasted seperately and evaluated. Then we began precise blendings to see if we could create a finished whiskey that was greater than the sum of its parts.

Sample A had an oaky nose, with toasted nut and vanilla notes, a smooth, light palate and raisoney finish. Sample B had an earthy nose, with a spicy palate and had Maple, Chocolate and Spice on the finish. Sample C started with a burst of dried cherries and a hint of Sherry on the nose, was very complex on the palate and fishished similar to Sample B with Maple, Chocolate and Spice but with an additional creaminess that Sample B was missing. We created 6 different blends, most of which were at least 50 % Sample C. The blend that showed the most complexity and palate pleasure ended up being a blend of 30% Sample A, 20% Sample B & 50% Sample C. The final blend shows notes of honey and fruit balance with a little wood on the nose, has a very smooth and complex palate with caramel, maple, chocolate and vanilla notes, has a long, smooth, spicy finish.

George Dickel 14 Year Barrel

Written by

At 14 years the bottling represents the oldest ever Tennessee whiskey. There is a deep, burnished oakiness, tending to dryness, with a hint of smoky quality. The Tennessee Charcoal Filtering process followed by 14 years of barrel aging has produced an exceptionally smooth and flavorable whiskey.
